: Dead phone... UPDATED

I guess it's only fitting that only a few days after I wrote en entire blog-post complaining about my phones shortcomings, I manage to forget to take it out of my pocket before putting my pants in the washing machine. And didn't notice it until it was almost finished. Needless to say, my HTC Desire doesn't work anymore. It's completely dead. So yeah, even though I was starting to have a few problems with it, I hadn't planned on getting a new phone until at least after New Year's Eve. I guess that plan didn't work out.

Fortunately, I have the money my mother gave me from her inheritance after my grandmother. I put most of it away in a savings account, but I guess it's ok to take some of it now to buy a new phone. I'll just put whatever money I get for christmas back into the account, or something. I was planning on using that money, if I get any, on a new phone anyway, which is part of the reason why I was going to wait until after New Year's to buy one.

So yeah, I've ordered a new phone, and of course I went with the Samsung Galaxy S2. Another reason why I wanted to wait, was to see if maybe the prices went down, or if maybe there was a sale after New Year's, but yeah. My Desire is dead, and I really don't want to go back to a regular phone. And since I have the means to get myself a new smartphone, and a very good one as well, I just went with it.

UPDATE: Well, seems I was a bit hasty in choosing where to buy it. I ordered it from Expert, where it is rather cheap (also, there is no Elkjøp in Gran, I think), thinking that I could just pick it up at the store, like they do at Elkjøp, and save a few bucks compared to just buying it directly in the store. But, unfortunately, Expert's collect at store system doesn't work that way...

Instead of checking whether the item is available in the selected store, and then notifying them that I'll come in and pick it up, they actually ship a package with the ordered item to the selected store. It doesn't matter if they have it in the store or not, it seems; I asked if there was any way to swap it, so that I could get one they already had, and then they just kept the one that was shipped whenever it arrived, but the clerk I spoke with said they couldn't do that.

Ridiculous.

What I should've done was to order it at Elkjøp, and choose to pick it up at Elkjøp Dokka when I arrived. At least I know that would've worked, as I've done that before. Now I have to wait until at least Tuesday to get my new phone. Bleh.

  4. Ouch. Fun.

I've had problems with mine not registering my installed apps as well, but that was because I had added two Google-accounts. For some reason it wouldn't register the installed apps if the wrong account was active.
